REBCO WG meeting

US/Pacific
Description
  • What performances and parameters should the conductor have? How can we make magnets using these conductors?
  • What is the maximum dipole field a REBCO magnet can generate?
  • What is the magnet performance? How does it quench? What is the field quality?
  • Does the magnet performance degrade, e.g., during operation, after thermal cycles? If so, how can we prevent it?
  • How can we characterize the performance for long conductors?
    • 11:00 11:45
      Status update 45m
      • Subscale common coil
      • COMB
      • CCT
Speakers: Anis Ben Yahia (Brookhaven National Laboratory), Maxim Martchevskii, Ramesh Gupta (BNL), Reed Teyber (LBNL), Vadim Kashikhin (Fermilab), Vito Lombardo (Fermilab), Xiaorong Wang (LBNL)
      • Subscale common coil:
        • By the end of August, ACT will complete test winding and send all the hardware to BNL. BNL will practice test winding at BNL.
        • Ramesh will check when he can send a base plate for the subscale common coil to Maxim to test fit the acoustic fiber sensor. Maxim would like to have it in early October when the MDP funding is available. Maxim expects to work on the plate for about two weeks and get back to BNL in November.
      • BNL is considering to retest the HTS coils together with the PSI BOX test.
      • COMB: ACT will re-lubricate FNAL’s sample after removing the insulation. ACT will wind the sample into COMB structure after lubrication. FNAL will test the sample at 77 K, expecting to receive it by the end of August.
      • C3: ACT reported the mechanical issues for some of the tapes received for the C3 order. Expect delay in C3 order.
