REBCO WG meeting

US/Pacific
Description
  • What performances and parameters should the conductor have? How can we make magnets using these conductors?
  • What is the maximum dipole field a REBCO magnet can generate?
  • What is the magnet performance? How does it quench? What is the field quality?
  • Does the magnet performance degrade, e.g., during operation, after thermal cycles? If so, how can we prevent it?
  • How can we characterize the performance for long conductors?
    • 11:00 11:45
      Status update 45m
      • Subscale common coil
      • COMB
      • CCT
Speakers: Anis Ben Yahia (Brookhaven National Laboratory), Maxim Martchevskii, Ramesh Gupta (BNL), Reed Teyber (LBNL), Vadim Kashikhin (Fermilab), Vito Lombardo (Fermilab), Xiaorong Wang (LBNL)
      • Subscale common coil: Receive the parts from ACT next week. Test winding at BNL using a winding machine.
      • COMB: FNAL received the sample from ACT. The sample was lubricated and wound on a COMB structure. FNAL will test its performance at 77 K in the coming weeks.
      • CCT: getting quotes for mandrels. Fabricate mandrels once the funding is available. Install terminations on CORC wires to continue the impregnation study.
      • Also discussed if we can move faster. Let's keep thinking about this and move faster.
