REBCO WG meeting

US/Pacific
Description
  • What performances and parameters should the conductor have? How can we make magnets using these conductors?
  • What is the maximum dipole field a REBCO magnet can generate?
  • What is the magnet performance? How does it quench? What is the field quality?
  • Does the magnet performance degrade, e.g., during operation, after thermal cycles? If so, how can we prevent it?
  • How can we characterize the performance for long conductors?
    • 11:00 11:30
      Update on magnet status 30m
      • subscale common coil
      • COMB
      • c3
    • 11:30 11:50
Plan for the collaboration meeting 20m
Speakers: Anis Ben Yahia (Brookhaven National Laboratory), Paolo Ferracin, Ramesh Gupta (BNL), Reed Teyber (LBNL), Stephen Gourlay (LBNL), Vadim Kashikhin (Fermilab), Vito Lombardo (Fermilab), Xiaorong Wang (LBNL)

Guidance from George Velev on the planning of CM.

      1. Summarizing the status of the R&D topics, the summary can be presented by several people.
        1. Discuss issues encountered over the last year and solutions to address them in the future (lessons-learned)
        2. Discussion of the current or incoming (next 6-8 months) milestones – can they be met? If not, what are the showstoppers for the progress.
        3. Identify near and mid-term conductor needs to provide guidance to CPRD group
      2. One or more additional technical talks can be proposed that focus on specific R&D that are key to delivering on the roadmap. Each area should plan these with consideration of time to allow sufficient discussion time.
      3. Discussion time (at least 30 min):
        1. What is the R&D issues, e.g., technical, manpower, M&S or other support?
        2. What are the problems if any to meet the milestones?
        3. Conductor needs for the next two years

Let's plan to talk about the issues, challenges and necessary changes to the original plan.

Let's aim for a draft agenda by 1/20 and send to George for feedback.
