GRETA Dedication: Celebrating a Decade of GRETINA Science

US/Pacific

Description

The idea to construct a 4$\pi$ Gamma-Ray Energy Tracking Array was proposed almost 30 years ago. Since then there has been a tremendous amount of technical innovation and progress in detector technology, signal processing, and advanced electronics and computing systems resulting in GRETINA and AGATA (demonstrator). These arrays have been operating in the US and Europe (respectively) for over a decade and have demonstrated the performance and science impact of such arrays.

GRETA, which builds on GRETINA to complete the full 4$\pi$ array, is now nearing completion and to mark this milestone we are pleased to announce a 2 day workshop/dedication that will be held at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory April 23-24, 2025.

In these two days, we will celebrate the evolution of gamma-ray spectroscopy, the technologies which enable the science and the science itself, focusing on more than a decade of physics with GRETINA and looking forward to the next decades of GRETA.

More details on the program will be coming soon.
