Site Access

On-site access will require advance registration with LBL of any visitor.

Every participant must have received a site access confirmation in the form of a QR code. The QR code along with Passport or REAL ID for US Citizens (Green card is not applicable) will grant you access to LBNL campus at the entrance gate (1 Cyclotron Road). If you arrived to the US on a Visa or ESTA, please also bring that with you for verification.


Shuttle 

LBNL offers a free shuttle bus service on different routes between Berkeley and the lab campus. 

To use the shuttle bus you need to present your site access QR code and passport (or real ID for US citizens) to the driver.

To get to the lab and venue, use the "BLUE" line "UPHILL", see photos below. You can hop on on any of the Blue line stops, see map below.

The buses run every 10-15 minutes during business hours and weekdays. The realtime schedule and live tracking can be found on Tripshot.

The central turnaround hub is at Downtown Berkeley BART Station (Shattuck Av & Allston Way), see photos below. The ride to the venue will take ~20 minutes.

To get to the lab and venue:

  • Use "Blue Line Uphill" route

  • Present QR code to the driver and tell that you are a visitor for a workshop

  • Once the bus arrives at the Blackberry Gate, security will check your site access documents: present QR code and Passport (or REAL ID)

  • Stay on the bus and ride to the end of the line, Bus stop B62/66

  • Once you arrive, the Building 66 is right in front of you

Rideshare

If you plan to get to the lab/venue by rideshare (Uber/Lyft) you must inform the organizers in advance so that we can arrange access at the gate.

The entrance to the lab is "Blackberry Gate" at 1 Cyclotron Road.

You (the workshop participant) must present the site access approval document (QR code) and Passport (or REAL ID for US Citizens) to security at the Gate.

 


Car

If you plan to get to the lab/venue by personal car you must inform the organizers in advance so that we can arrange access at the gate and parking.

The entrance to the lab is "Blackberry Gate" at 1 Cyclotron Road.

You (the workshop participant) must present the site access approval document (QR code) and Passport (or REAL ID for US Citizens) to security at the Gate.


Registration is closed.

On-site registration: Please follow the steps outlined in your invitation email in a timely manner. The vetting and site access approval process can take ~60 days.

1. Register for the event using registration link provided directly to you -- this will automatically initiate a site access request.
2. Respond to follow-up requests from the LBNL Site Access Office and provide the requested vetting materials promptly.
3. Await the LBNL vetting process (can take ~60 days).
4. Receive your approval notification.
5. Upon arrival at LBNL for the Workshop, present your passport and site access confirmation (US citizens may use Real ID).
